Our genre focus for the month of January was on persuasive writing. 4th, 5th, 6th class explored all the features of formal and informal debates and tried their hand at having our own class debates on a variety of topics.
For our display, we focused on a topic that is becoming more talked about within society and one that is also relevant to many young people today. The discussion of 'Should Under 16's be allowed Social Media' sparked many conversations in the classroom.
While many of the children highlighted the benefits of using social media for learning new skills, communicating with friends and family overseas, they also talked about the many dangers that faces Under 16's and social media.
